Background Dr Ejiro Newton Omoko, hails from Otefe in Ethiop West Local Government Area of Delta State.
He started his career as an Administrative Secretary in the office of the Personal Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Youth Development during the Warri crisis from 1999 – 2001. He made serious contribution and took great risk while resolving community versus community, community versus multinational companies, youths versus multinational company disputes across the oil and gas bearing communities in Delta State.
Dr Ejiro joined the Unified Local Government Service as an Administrative Officer and rose to the rank of Assistant Director of Administration. (2001 – 2022). In the year 2022, he switched over to lecturing when he joined the services of the University of Delta Agbor Delta State as a lecturer. That same year, he was graciously appointed as Ag. Head of Department of Geology by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mrs Stella Chiemeke as the pioneer Head of Department.
Dr Ejiro is a specialist in Environmental geology, environmental impact assessment, environmental auditing, water resources management, pollution prevention and remediation, Hazardous Earth process management, environmental engineering, hydrogeology and engineering geology.
Dr Ejiro is a registered member of many recognized professional bodies in Nigeria. He is a member of the Council of Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG), Nigeria Mining and Geoscientist Society (NMGS), Nigeria Association of Hydrogeologist (NAH), Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationist (NAPE) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
He received several awards from various bodies due to his crisis management prowess during the period. He was awarded a Professional Certificate in Leading Sustainable Development from the Open College Network London Region United Kingdom in 2009.
He has attended many international conferences, seminars and workshops.
He has served in various committees in the University.
He has published eleven (11) research articles while so many are under peer review. He has also received certificate of Excellence in Reviewing by the International Journal of Environment and Climate Change.
Education Dr. Ejiro Omoko attended Okotie-Eboh Grammar School Sapele and passed out in 1988. He graduated from the University of Calabar with a Bachelor of Science honours degree in Geology (1997) . He got a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Delta State University Abraka in 2004. He proceeded to the Federal University of Technology Owerri Imo State where he received a Postgraduate Diploma in Geosciences in 2013 and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Geology in 2017. He also obtained his Ph.D degree in Environmental Geology from the Federal University of Technology Owerri in 2021. He also worked with several private companies as a well -site geologist and as Geological Consultant.
