In the final year of the degree programme, students are required to undertake an independent research projects in a selected area of geology. The pursuit of Geologist though seldom publicized provides the material resources of modern civilization. The search for and winning of new mineral and energy resources, the discovery of underground water, foundation studies in relation to or location of engineering projects, and geological hazard control, and mitigation; are some of the areas in which geologists contribute to the well-being of man.
